The ongoing Houthi attacks against shipping in the Red Sea have upended efforts to move toward a peace settlement in Yemen, impacted the global economy, and carry the risk of further escalation that would negatively impact Yemen and the region.
Red Sea hostilities have not only halted progress to establish a UN-led roadmap for peace, but they further destabilize the country’s already fragile economy and drastically limit international humanitarian efforts to ward off starvation and address endemic poverty. While Yemen is the country currently feeling the primary effects of the conflict, neighboring states in the Red Sea and the Middle East are also contending with risks to their political, economic, and environmental stability.
Maged Al Madhaji and Nuha Al-Saeedi from Sana’a Center as well as Dr. Marie-Christine Heinze from the Center for Applied Research in Partnership with the Orient (CARPO) will join the panel, and the discussion will be facilitated by Sana’a Center’s Osamah Al Rawhani.
The event will be held in English and Arabic. Simultaneous interpretation in both languages will be provided.
The Robert Bosch Stiftung looks forward to welcoming you in person! Please register by April 12th: login link to online registration
