Screening of the film “Iraq's Invisible Beauty” and Panel Discussion "Echoes of War: Reflections on the Invasion of Iraq and its Lasting Effects"

Latif Al Ani photographed Iraq for 30 years before multiple wars arose. At the age of 86, he travels through his devastated country in search of the people and places he photographed at the time, sharing his pictures with Iraqis, telling stories and showing the unknown Iraq of those days.

Against the background of the screening of the documentary film “Iraq's Invisible Beauty”, the Referat Naher/Mittlerer Osten und Nordafrika aims to discuss the long-term effects of the invasion of Iraq, its consequences for the region, its implications for international law and the resulting lessons for the future.

-  Dr. Herta Däubler-Gmelin, former German Minister of Justice, Lawyer
-   Mrs.Pascal Esho Warda, former Iraqi Minister for Immigration and Refugees in the Iraqi Interim Government that replaced the rule of the Coalition Provisional Authority following the US Invasion in 2003.
-    Jurgen Buedts, Belgian film maker and producer of “Iraq's Invisible Beauty”
