Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli, President of the Bahrain Economists Society, is also associate professor of economics at George Mason University, a US university, and an affiliated senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center, a US think tank based in Washington, DC. He earned a BA in economics from the University of Cambridge, and a MA and PhD in economics from the University of Chicago. In the economics domain, his primary research interests are political economy, behavioural/experimental economics, the economics of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the economics of science.  Dr. Al-Ubaydli has numerous peer-reviewed publications in international journals, and his research has been covered in mainstream media outlets, such as the Economist magazine and the Newsweek blog. He also regularly writes newspaper and magazine articles in outlets such as Al-Hayat newspaper and Newsweek ME and is frequently quoted by journalists when analysing economics news.

We are excited to hear Dr. Al-Ubaydli analysis of the regional and international implications of the US/Israeli war against Iran from an economist’ point of view from the GCC.
