After 15 years, Palestinians can cast their votes in long-awaited polls in the West Bank as well as Gaza and Jerusalem in 2021. Elections for the Palestinian Legislative Council are scheduled to take place on 22 May 2021, while elections for the office of President of the Palestinian National Authority will be held on 31 July 2021. According to the Central Election Commission, over 90% of eligible voters in the West Bank and Gaza have registered for the polls. Against this background, we are pleased to welcome the distinguished Palestinian politician and political writer Nabil Amr to discuss the coming elections as well as possible outcomes and scenarios.
 
Nabil Amr was Information Minister of the Palestinian National Authority. He is a trained journalist and was long-time media advisor to the late PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat. Moreover, he served as ambassador of the PLO to Egypt and the former USSR. Mr. Amr was Editor-in-Chief of Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Director of the Voice of Palestine.

After the initial input, the participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.

The discussion will be conducted as an online webinar using the software "Zoom". Please register until 29 March 2021 via dafg@dafg.eu.
You will receive the access data one day before the event.The number of participants is limited.

The German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG) uses the software” Zoom” for this online event (https://zoom.us). The technical infrastructure required for this runs via Zoom’s servers in the USA. DAFG itself does not store any data of participants in the software; they must join the webinar themselves with the access data provided by DAFG. The use of the audio and webcam connection and chat function is voluntary and the participants must agree themselves if they are given the floor by the moderator. The DAFG reserves the right to save a recording of the webinar for internal purposes.
