Since 2007, the German-Arab Master’s Programmes (GAMP) have become one of the most successful projects of German-Arab cooperation in academics and science. With the establishment of five bicultural regional master‘s programs in the fields of water management, economics, renewable energies, education and urbanism, the program targets key areas of development cooperation between Germany and the MENA region.
Our 21st DAFG Jour Fixe will focus on the joint master‘s program Integrated Water Resources Management (IRWM) at TH Köln and German Jordanian University (GJU). Given that water resources and adequate supply are among the key environmental concerns for the Middle East and North Africa, the world‘s most water-scarce region, the program draws on solutions that are linking water to other vital resources and viewing the whole water cycle together with human interventions as the basis for sustainable water management.
The online event will feature a panel discussion on the history and development of this exemplary German-Arab project, reflecting on the achievements and current challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic from both the perspective of the partner universities with Prof. Dr. Manar Fayyad (President, German Jordanian University) and Prof. Dr. Lars Ribbe (Dean of Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems & Professor for Integrated Land and Water Resources Management, TH Köln - University of Applied Sciences) as well as from Dr. Mustafa Nasereddin (Co-Founder & Managing Director, WEE Pros GmbH) and Aline Bussmann (Senior Partner, SEECON), two program alumni who are working on projects in the MENA region.
For further information, please see the invitation. Feel free to forward it to interested parties.
The online event will be conducted as a video conference using the software "Zoom". The number of participants is limited.
