Online-Event via Zoom
Since the 1960s, Tunisian and German archaeologists have been working together in the important ancient city of Simitthus (now Chimtou) in north-western Tunisia. The site gains its special significance from the combination of an ancient city with the large marble quarries of the so-called Numerian marble, which were in imperial possession in Roman times.
The German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG) and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) cordially invite you to the next lecture in the series"Archaeology & Cultural Heritage in the Arab World":
Archaeology for the People:
German-Tunisian Archaeological Research at Simitthus (Chimtou, Tunisia)
Dr. Philipp von Rummel
German Archaeological Institute (DAI)
Tuesday, 24 August 2021

In his lecture, Dr. Philipp von Rummel not only reports on the latest archaeological research, but also gives insights into the team’s efforts to make the archaeological site attractive to foreign tourists and local visitors alike, thus transforming it into a point of exchange and communication about history and a hub of local development.
The online event will be conducted as a video conference using the software "Zoom". The number of participants is limited. Please register until 23 August 2021 here: https://tinyurl.com/eaxep82p. After registering you will receive the corresponding access data.
